Commitment to the environment

Processing milk into cheese products requires a relatively large amount of energy. Together with other companies, Züger Frischkäse AG is working, on a voluntary basis, towards implementing the goals of the Kyoto Protocol (which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, especially CO2).

Züger Frischkäse AG has set itself ambitious and innovative targets and is investing in modern and sustainable technology, which is designed to improve processes and boost energy efficiency.

Since December 2011, we have been using a wood chip boiler that generates steam (5 bar mains pressure). With this system, we can reduce our annual CO2 emissions by 1,000 tonnes. We can also provide a local waste wood recycling service for our milk producers.

Since summer 2019, we’ve had a solar power plant on our roof with more than 4,000 panels. This system can generate more than 450,000 kWh of power per year, which is supplied directly to the company.

Züger Frischkäse AG is striving to enhance its cheese products, not only by using organic raw materials, but also through its commitment to the environment.
